Eco-design for environmental sustainability and tourism
Cooperativa Alchimia, Bergamo
The workshop “Eco-design for Environmental Sustainability and Tourism” embraces the design challenge proposed by Cooperativa Alchimia of Bergamo.
This Design Sprint is part of the projects within the Environmental Area of Cooperativa Alchimia, which since 2004 has been offering projects and paths for environmental sustainability education, involving schools, families, citizens, and local communities in developing best practices to improve quality of life, protect the environment, promote sustainable tourism, rehabilitate green spaces, and manage energy resources.
The interests expressed by Cooperativa Alchimia in new potential digital design solutions are focused on enhancing the current offer of La Porta del Parco.
The context
La Porta del Parco is located in Mozzo, near the Parco dei Colli of Bergamo. It is a community project, born thanks to a collaboration between the Cooperativa Oikos and the Cooperativa Alchimia, aims to enhance an agricultural area and activate sustainable practices involving the community. La Porta del Parco features:
- a café and pizzeria,
- a large green area with social and collective gardens,
- a play area for children,
- a Saturday morning farmers’ market with local and organic products.
It is frequented by various local entities that organize cultural, artistic, laboratory, and recreational events, with the goal of promoting awareness of environmental heritage and ecological, social, and solidarity sensitivity.
Design challenges
#1. Promotion and interactive use of La Porta del Parco
The design solutions for this track focus on the integration of digital solutions to promote and enable interactive use of La Porta del Parco. The proposals should also be accessible remotely and/or communicated through the platform NatureBit, which will be enhanced with new digital offerings.
#2. Green activism
Building on the growing interest among young people in sustainability and the green transition, what digital or hybrid solutions can channel enthusiasm and commitment towards concrete actions and changes? If these solutions involve the use of spaces, what role could La Porta del Parco play?
#3. Sustainable in the city
Especially considering, but not limited to, young individuals or families who are beginning to create their own lifestyle and habits, what digital or hybrid solutions can help make their lifestyle more sustainable, while also being compatible with urban living, specifically in the Bergamo area? If these solutions involve the use of spaces, what role could La Porta del Parco play?
