MAPP – Museo Aperto Porta del Parco
An Augmented Open-Air Museum Enhanced by Data
#DS1. Eco-design for environmental sustainability and tourism
Cooperativa Alchimia, Bergamo
A project by Andrea Cerrato, Giorgio Massara, Tomaso Pignatti, Cristina Rossetti.
MAPP is an open-air museum dedicated to environmental themes and designed along a physical and digital path within the park. Using physical computing and the internet of things, the project enhances different park locations by extracting and visualizing data that stimulate reflections and education on environmental topics, further deepened through a dedicated website.
Among the hypotheses is the hybridization of a swing with a sensor measuring the energy generated by swinging. The data is then displayed on a panel, which highlights the equivalence of the generated energy with the charging times of a mobile phone or the intensity of a light bulb. Thus, the energy consumption of different devices is associated with physical activity, making the energy-intensive nature of such actions tangible. Accompanying this, a QR code leads to further insights into energy production and usage.
